Mongolia, like northern Xinjiang, has been hit with one of the deadliest winters in decades, and although this type of news isn't as eye-catching as earthquakes in Haiti or Chile, the needs are just as real. They have a goal of donating almost $2,000 to Mercy Mongolia, which for the rural residents of the area is a fortune. This doesn't really have much to do with Xinjiang other than Mongolia is our neighbor. This isn't an ad or a paid post, this is just me hoping to help out some friends who I think are involved in a pretty cool race. I became convinced this was something I wanted to endorse after I got an email from them telling me that "Even if we don't raise the money, we'll do the rally".

thanks for sharing. i'll definitely support them :-)
Thanks Josh, we really appreciate you mentioning this on your site. We have raised $100 USD for Mercy Corps Mongolia so far and $500 for our team! It is nice to get the ball rolling. Every little bit helps so thank you in advance to all of Far West China's readers who donate. We will donate the remainder of all our team funds to the charity, as well as our car, upon arrival in Ulan Bataar.
Thanks again for this Josh, this shows up #3 on Google for "Mongol Rally," right underneath the official website. We owe you big time!
I'm glad I could help in some way. I really wish you guys were heading through Xinjiang on your journey, though. That would have been sweet!
Best of luck continuing to raise money.
